Utilizing Technology in the Classroom

Hello there fellow educators! Are you looking for new ways to enhance the standards you are teaching in your classrooms? It is important to keep up with the times to build rapport with your students and adjusting your teaching methods is a great way to do that. An effective way to do that is to utilize technology tools online. There are so many different resources on the internet that may seem overwhelming to navigate, so I have created this space to share the ones that I have found the most useful in my classroom.  a1) In the beginning of the year at my school, each student is provided with an ipad that they are able to access and utilize all throughout the year. I ensure that each student understands how to use their own ipad prior to assigning work using it. I also allow them to "sign it out" for the evening from me to bring home if it is needed to access the online work I assign in the evenings. This gives every child equal opportunity to use this technology to access the...

Educational Technology That Facilitates Student Learning

A2) Like I mentioned before, there are many educational resources on the internet that can leave you not knowing where to begin. Through my own research, I have found three credible resources that provide you with links to different online tools to be utilized in the classroom. These three websites guide teachers to resources that best fit your classroom. 1.The first source that I found was an article titled "Research-Based Technology Integration Strategies" written by Liz Kolb on  Edutopia . This article begins by emphasizing the importance of keeping learning social, ensure that the technology adds value, and making learning authentic. The article is divided into three sections, using those topics stated above, to discuss why they are important and provided easy links to case studies and online tools to back up their info. The article was written by a former teacher who saw the positive outcomes of properly using technology in the classroom and the impact it had on studen...

Learning Activity Demonstrating the Integration of a Technology Resource

A3)  Here is a sample learning activity I created and utilized in my classroom using  Seesaw 1.NBT.4  Number and Operations in Base Ten Standard : Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten. (https://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/) First when introducing this assignment, I use a direct instruction by verbally explaining my expectations and providing video visuals that match. The one thing I love about this resource is the ability to type the instructions on the assignment as well as provide audio recordings of myself explaining the inst...

Assistive Technology

4A) One example of an educational technology tool is the website  Raz-Kids . It is an interactive online reading program that fosters reading skills and keeps data to track of progress as the student uses it. I love that I can use this resource to ensure at home reading is being kept up to date as well as utilizing it in my classroom. I am able to keep track of students reading not only at school, but at home as well.  Another educational technology tool that I like to utilize in my classroom is  Scholastic News . It has weekly online aritcles that meet my standards and allow my students to absorb the content in a more interactive way. Each article is attached with a short quiz, videos, pictures, and games to keep engagement. It brings a different connection to the content than just reading the physical copy together in class. Again, I enjoy that this can be accessed both at school and at home. 4B)  Technology is not only utilized via the internet or on a comp...
