Learning Activity Demonstrating the Integration of a Technology Resource
A3) Here is a sample learning activity I created and utilized in my classroom using Seesaw
1.NBT.4
Number and Operations in Base Ten
Standard:
Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten. (https://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/)
First when introducing this assignment, I use a direct instruction by verbally explaining my expectations and providing video visuals that match. The one thing I love about this resource is the ability to type the instructions on the assignment as well as provide audio recordings of myself explaining the instructions to ensure all students have a clear understanding of what is expected of them. This source provides fun and interactive ways for students to show their understanding of place values and properties of operations. Seesaw also provides teachers with easy access to the data collected from assignments to keep track of the formative assessments.
When trying to create summative assessments, I try to keep them fun and engaging for my students. I usually go for the website Kahoot that provides many interactive games that align with my standard. The data I collect from this will be translated into the grade book to establish competency of learning the standard. Kahoot provides immediate and easy access to help determine what differentiation needs to be applied in the following lesson.
Virtual gradebooks are a great way to keep track of these scores and show student progress. Seesaw allows access to these scores not only just at school, but at home for students and families to look through.
